We are learning new words in BA classes this week. They are all about food.
- drive-through window – a restaurant window that serves food to people in their cars
- takeout – food that you buy at a restaurant to eat at home
- junk food – unhealthy food
- appetizer – food eaten before the main meal
- entree – a dish served as a main meal
- dessert – a sweet food served after a meal
- doggie bag – a bag or box to carry extra food home from a restaurant
Takeout and doggie bag are different. Takeout is food you take home to eat. A doggie bag is for extra food after you finish your meal. If you buy a pizza and it’s too big, then you ask for a doggie bag. If you want to buy a pizza and eat it at home, you ask for takeout.
Doggie bags are not popular in Japan, but they are very popular in America. That’s because Americans like a lot of food!
Here are some more words.
- lifestyles – ways of living
- researchers – people who study something
- centenarian – people who have lived for 100 years or more
- habit – things you do often
- attitude – the way you feel about something
Do you know any centenarians? How old is the oldest person you know? 80 years old? 90 years old?
